History of Cagayan State University Solana-Lara Campus

Cagayan State University Solana-Lara Campus marks the ninth addition to the university's network, joining the ranks of the Andrews, Aparri, Carig, Gonzaga, Lallo, Lasam, Sanchez Mira, and Piat campuses. It stands as a symbol of growth and progress, ushering in a fresh chapter in the educational landscape of the region. Under the guidance of Campus Executive Officer Dr. Ma. Haidee A. Mabborang, CSU Solana-Lara is set to become a beacon of learning and development.

The journey of CSU Solana-Lara began with the passing of Republic Act 11858 on June 18, 2022, which officially transformed the campus from an extension of the Andrews Campus into a standalone campus. This significant milestone was achieved through the relentless efforts of the CSU Board of Regents, former President Urdujah Alvarado, and Congressman Joseph Lara. Their dedication ensured the construction of the campus's first building and secured its recognition as a separate entity, thereby laying a strong foundation for its future.

The active involvement of Senator Joel Villanueva, Chair of the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, was crucial in navigating the legislative process for RA 11858, also known as the CSU Solana-Lara Campus Act. House Bill 9179, championed by Congressman Jojo Lasam Lara of Cagayan's 3rd District, was instrumental in converting the Solana Extension Campus into the CSU Solana-Lara Campus. Their combined efforts were pivotal in turning the vision of a dedicated campus in Solana into reality.

September 2022 marked the inaugural opening of classes at CSU Solana-Lara, welcoming 359 students from Solana and nearby municipalities. The campus offered a range of programs, including Bachelor of Science degrees in Information Technology, Criminology, Agriculture, and Elementary Education. The following year, in September 2023, the student population grew to 747, encompassing both first-year and second-year students across all offered courses. This growth reflects the community's strong support and the campus's commitment to providing quality education.

The establishment of the CSU Solana-Lara Campus was made possible through the remarkable contributions of Congressman Jojo Lasam Lara and Dr. Zara Guzman Lara. Dr. Zara Lara's donation of land and Congressman Lara's efforts in securing funding for infrastructure were vital in bringing this educational hub to life.
